In bumping against storage capacity and bandwidth limitations inherent in HP Vertica, Square opted to migrate to Snowflake in early 2018. Square's data organization is decentralized, giving analysts and engineers direct ownership of ETLs and data landscape. Shepherding a large, growing Looker instance - Square has 400+ Looker developers editing 32 Looker Projects--required planning, communication, and ingenuity.
